A loan helped to purchase a sprayer that will optimize the process of fumigating her crops.

Maria's story

Maria is a senior indigenous farmer from Buenos Aires, Cauca, with over 50 years of experience practicing various agricultural activities. She currently manages a one-and-a-half-hectare terrain that was granted by the indigenous council, where she cultivates over 6,000 coffee plants along with a small patch of vegetables. Maria takes care of her plants using traditional methods and handmade inputs learned from her community.

Maria is a widow who lives in a house that she built with her late husband next to her terrain. She has ten independent adult children who engage in various agricultural activities and constantly help her with the terrain.

A loan of COP 1,212,212 assists Maria in acquiring an automatic sprayer. This investment will enhance efficiency in her coffee cultivation, allowing for the precise application of fertilizers and pesticides, ultimately contributing to higher yields and sustainable agricultural practices.
