A loan helped a member to purchase raw ingredients needed to make "puto".

Violita's Group's story

Violita O., from the village of Poblacion, Sibutad, is the 32-year-old group leader of a three-member group loan offered by PMPC. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.

Violita, who is married and has two school-aged children, owns and operates a business venture in the food sector making and selling food. While not the only means of generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes from selling "puto" and other delicacies in the local community. Engaged in her business for over 11 years, she earns approximately 3,100 PHP a month.

In 2010, Violita joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Now requesting her first loan of 3000 PHP to purchase raw ingredients needed to make puto, she plans to use the additional revenue generated from her business to support her family needs.
