A loan helped to purchase more store goods.

Magdeline's story

Magdeline is 52 years old and married with four children. She is from Sarang in Sumkar LLG, Madang Province. She is unemployed but runs an informal market selling store goods at her residence and has been in this business for the last four years. Her main customers are school children attending the primary school close to her house. Her challenges include other shop owners near her village who sell goods that she does not have and pricing, but Magdeline has learned over time to be wiser in her pricing to attract more customers.

Magdeline's current stock is insufficient, and she would like to increase the variety of goods she offers. She has improved her financial management skills and was able to save enough money in her bank to qualify for a small loan to purchase more stock to increase and diversify her inventory. She is a second time borrower and knows that she will be able to repay her loan.
