Blanca Azucena's story

Blanca, 34, lives in a common-law marriage and has two children who are her biggest motivation.

Four years ago, she made the decision to open a small grocery store. She succeeded in establishing her business and works hard to keep it open and generate the income she needs to support her family.

Ella es Blanca, una mujer de 34 años, se encuentra en una relación de unión libre y es madre de dos hijos quienes son su mayor motivación. Hace cuatro años atrás tomó la decisión de emprender con una pequeña de tienda comestibles y lo consiguió, ahora se esfuerza mucho para mantenerla activa y le genere ingresos para el sustento del hogar. Blanca, solicita un préstamo Kiva de MiCrédito para comprar ladrillos, cemento, arena, hierros, cerámicas, puertas para el inodoro, llaves y lavamanos para el baño e inodoro. A futuro desea seguir mejorando su vivienda y el negocio.

This water and sanitation loan is part of Micrédito’s effort to improve the living standards of communities in Nicaragua. Today many Nicaraguan homes do not have access to safe water or sanitation facilities. With few hygienic alternatives available to them, families often face water pollution resulting in respiratory, gastrointestinal or skin diseases as well as river pollution due to illegal sewage piping.
