A loan helped a boutique owner secure inventory, update POS and build out an e-commerce option to diversify sales.

Kimary's story

I’m Kimary, a single mother of two and proud owner of 2 Kute Klothes. My entrepreneurial dreams became a reality in 1998 when I opened my retail business. Now 20+ years later, I’m trying to scale, rebrand and reboot my business by updating my storefront and purchasing new inventory that is relevant in today’s market.

I didn’t have a business mentor or the credit to secure a business loan, so everything I make is re-invested back into my business. Some of the business decisions I've made have worked, and some haven’t. The decisions that haven’t worked unfortunately set me back years, which has put me in this vicious cycle of making just enough to survive but not grow. The one person that I could count on for financial support and business advice - my father, who was an entrepreneur himself - died at 50 years old, which left me to figure out things for myself. And I’ve been doing that ever since.

This journey has been extremely hard, with raising 2 children, trying to purchase merchandise, marketing, staffing the store and competing against other stores that have employees. I can’t afford to hire additional staff so that I can spend dedicated time to handle some of the other responsibilities involved in running a store. I'm making just enough to continue operating. 20 years in I’m still in this cycle of barely making enough. By providing a place to shop, you get more than just awesome customer service and cool clothes, but also get a little extra boost of confidence, leaving feeling empowered.

This loan is special because:

It supports a small business owner with 0%-interest, zero-fee capital.
