A loan helped a marshallese businesswoman grow her recruiting business and help her community thrive.

Faith's story

Hello. My name is Faith. I am an entrepreneur and 1st generation Marshallese American in my family. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my story. My parents came to Springfield, MO to attend college at Evangel University in the 1970’s. I was the first child born in the US. For the first 12 years of my life, we were the only Marshallese in Springfield, MO. The closest Marshallese to us were in Enid OK. From the time I turned 12 my parents started welcoming family from the Marshall Islands to come live with us to go to school and help segue their lives from RMI to the US.

Little did I know how this would shape and mold me to do the work I have done in Springdale, AR home to the largest community of Marshallese in the continent of the United States. Being the first entrepreneur in my family has been a challenging but rewarding journey. I have made mistakes, but I have learned from every single one and continue to thrive and help other Marshallese families move to the area and achieve their American dream.
