A loan helped to buy agricultural inputs.

Maria Manuela's story

This is María, a happy, extroverted, and very sociable indigenous woman. She is much loved by her community.

She lives with her 3 children and her spouse in a little house that they were able to build with much effort.

María and her spouse work in agriculture and raise animals like cows, pigs, and sheep.

With the agricultural work, they are able to put bread on the table of their home.

María has always dreamed that her children would have the education that she and her husband were unable to have due to lack of economic resources.

This is why they work so hard.

Recently, she and her husband seeded a plot with potato and bean seeds.

This is what they need a loan for, to buy agricultural inputs that will allow them to provide good care for their crops to have a good yield.

She and her family will then experience a better life.

Translated from Spanish by Kiva volunteer Charissa Nelson.

This loan is special because:

It aims to reach vulnerable refugee populations in an isolated region.
