A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving business and pay for the exporting of her mats and taovala overseas.

Lehua's story

Lehua and her daughter run their very own weaving business. She is a widow, and she has only two adults. Together they weave taovala and mats, using both white and brown pandanus. When the weavings are ready, she sells them to some local and overseas customers and also to relatives overseas.

It has been decades since she started this business, and she provides for her family with her income. Lehua's business improves her family's lives and also repays her loans without fail. She is a good example to most women in the center, and she encourages them to run their own businesses and be independent.
