A loan helped to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt and cooking oil.

Aisha's story

Aisha is 32 years old and lives in the town of Kayunga in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has 3 children who are all currently in school.

For the past year, Aisha has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells general merchandise items like sugar, salt, cooking oil, and soft drinks.

To help expand her business, Aisha has requested a loan of 800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more sacks of sugar, salt, cooking oil, and soft drinks for sale.

It will help Aisha to generate greater profits and manage to provide enough food for her family. Aisha hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a plot of land.

Aisha is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Aisha who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It offers training programs in life skills for young women.
