Jacinta is 40 years old and she has 3 children. She is illiterate because her parents could not give her the opportunity to study.

Since she was 12, she began helping her mother with the housework. She went to the field to work in the cultivation of coffee and cardamom. The money she got was used to help her mother with the family's expenses. She has 7 siblings.

She got married when was 17. She did the housework and her husband was responsible for the income for the family. Her children only studied their primary education due to financial limitations.

Her sister-in-law told her about the Chajulense Association of Women United for Life and the credits for women they offered. She got interested.

This year she will get her fifth loan. She had invested them in elaborating snacks, to buy chicken to sell they by the pound and to start and to expand a grocery store.

This year she will expand her grocery store, buying sugar, flour, beans, rice, toilet paper, sodas and snacks to sell.

Jacinta is the leader of group La Bendición 4. The group is formed by 5 women, 2 from de Ixil Maya ethnicity and 3 from the Ladino ethnicity.

The group will invest their loans in agriculture 40%, textile 20%, food 20% and retail 20%. On average, each member of the group has 5 children. The average age of the members of the group is 39 years old. 60% are illiterate, 20% did not finish their primary education, and 20% finished their primary education.
