A loan helped to buy a wider variety of seafood to sell and a freezer for preserving her products.

Maria Del Carmen's story

María is single and has a three-year-old child. She indicated that she has relatives who live abroad. María sells fish and other seafood. She attends to her business with the help of one employee. María works Monday through Sunday between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. Her main disadvantage is selling during the off-season, so it is not easy to acquire inventory to meet the demands of her customers. She learned this trade with the help of her mother. María opened her business three years ago.

She is requesting a loan so that she can obtain more capital to strengthen her business. The borrowed funds will be used to buy a wider variety of seafood to meet the existing demand. She will also acquire a freezer for preserving her products. María hopes having new equipment will allow her to store more seafood so that she can improve her sales and profits.

Her aspirations are to have a larger and profitable business, improve her family’s quality of life, and provide a good education for her child.
