Lydia's story

Lydia A.'s main source of income comes from operating tricycle transport services. She is 53 years old, married and has two grown-up children. She is from the village of Katipunan, Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental. Lydia has been in her business for over two years and earns approximately 2,000 Philippine pesos (PHP) a month.

In 2007, Lydia joined GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living conditions and enable her to engage in business activities. Lydia has successfully repaid a previous loan of 6,000 PHP from GDMPC. She is requesting a new loan of 6,000 PHP which will be used to purchase tires and other accessories. This will be her third loan from GDMPC. She plans to use additional income to improve and expand her business.

About GDMPC:
GDMPC is one of the most progressive cooperatives in Mindanao, Philippines. It has four branches and three unit offices covering the provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental. Its membership is composed mostly of farmers, fisherfolks and small entrepreneurs.
