A loan helped to purchase more raw food and vegetables for resale.

Christine's story

Christine is 30 years old and lives in the town of Kalerwe in the Kawempe region of Uganda. She is married and has two children who are currently in school. For the past 10 years, Christine has been working hard to manage her grocery store, which sells raw foods .

To help expand her business, Christine has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more raw food and vegetables for resale, and will help Christine to generate greater profits and improve her standard of living by providing new clothes and food for her children. Christine hopes that in the future she will be able to complete building her rental units for business and expand her food stall.

Christine is a member of BRAC's Microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small Group members like Christine who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
