A loan helped a member to build up her clothing sales business.

08-Alkalicounda Group's story

This group of women is a member of the Banc Villageois which was set up in July 2006. They live in the same village and get on well together. They run small trading businesses in order to have some independence. They are dynamic and support each other.

Madam Diarra, 53, is a widow with 9 children. She is the group's representative and has her hand raised in the photo.

With her new loan. Madam Diarra plans to go to the main market to buy ready to wear clothes and then resell them in the village. Once she has made a profit, she will cover the costs of feeding and educating the children because her husband is dead.

In this group: Fatou, Diarra
