A loan helped to buy another motorcycle.

Esther's story

Esther is 27 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Makindye region of Uganda. For the past six years, Esther has been working hard to manage her transportation business, which she does via motorcycle.

To help expand her business, Esther has requested a loan of 1,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy another motorcycle, and will help Esther to generate greater profits. This will allow her to take good care of her family, buy food, and boost her business. Esther hopes that in the future, she will be able to build her own residential house.

Esther is a member of BRAC's microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Esther who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.
