A loan helped to buy dry food to sell.

Betty's story

Meet Betty, a refugee mother to five children, who all attend school. She says that to be alive today it is by the grace of God, having escaped from Sudan to Uganda

Today she is happy that she chose not to give up, but instead to work hard. She grows maize, beans, sorghum and millet. She also rears poultry and goats.

Besides farming, she also has a small stall in which she sells mainly foodstuffs. The demand for food is very high and she has many customers, though she is limited in selling more due to the limited stock.

Through this she provides some basic needs to the family, though it is not enough to make sure that all their basic needs are met.

She would like to buy dry food to sell since now that the customers are very many, and she has valuable experience in the business.

She is very grateful to all the support that VisionFund and Kiva has given her.

This loan is special because:

It helps farmers in Uganda increase their income and provide for their families.
