A loan helped to purchase 20 kg of silk thread, 20 boxes of color dyes, and dyeing equipment.

Wainida's story

Wainida is a local woman residing in a small rural community located in the northwestern part of Surin province, northeastern Thailand. She currently lives with two younger siblings; one is employed by a local company, while the other is studying. Wainida runs a food stall and silk-weaving business to earn a living.

This is Wainida's second loan with Kiva, which she sought to invest in her silk weaving business that she has been running since 2021. She learned how to weave silk from a local group of silk weavers in her community. The purpose of launching this business was to increase her income to meet household expenses. She weaves and sells silk cloth to local middlemen and shops, and her income is earned only after her products are sold. To improve sales and increase her income, Wainida aspires to expand her silk-weaving business by weaving more silk cloth.

As a result, Wainida has applied for her second loan in order to purchase 20 kg of silk thread, 20 boxes of color dyes, and dyeing equipment. This loan will allow a local silk entrepreneur to continue to making a positive change in her business and will empower a woman to pursue her dream.
