Gugu is 37 years old and a single mother with 4 children, between the ages of 11 and 22 years old. She runs a retail business selling chickens and a decoration renting business for weddings in Mtubatuba, South Africa (KZN). In the photo above, she is raising her left hand and wearing a pink skirt.
She's been selling chickens for three years and the wedding decoration rental business for six years and runs it from her home. She also gets income from the government's child support grant. She says that the main challenges to her business are customers who do not pay on time.
She requested this loan through the Women's Development Businesses and KIVA to buy a tent to rent with along with her wedding decorations. She says that the extra income from this loan will help her with the future education for her children. In the future, she would like to have more tents for her wedding decoration rental business.
She adds that WDB and Kiva are very helpful for her in her business.
