A loan helped a member to buy agricultural inputs in order to better farm his field.

Benkadi Group's story

The man in the photo, stopped in his field with the hoe over his shoulder, is named Karifa. He is 38 years old and married and lives with his two wives, who are housewives, and six children in his village. Four of these children go to elementary school. He is representing his group in the photo due to the Corona virus, in order to respect social distancing.

Karifa has taken out a loan with RMCR/Kiva to buy agricultural inputs in order to better farm his corn field, which he has been doing for more than 15 years. A very cooperative person, he has a plot of land that he works on and plants with peanuts or corn every winter.

He sells what he grows to buyers in their local markets after the harvest, to make a profit, which allows him to provide his children with school supplies and clothing, and he takes care of other family responsibilities.

In this group: Karifa, Mahamadou, Moussoumady, Djessaba, M'bamissa, Mariam, Salimatou, M'bamory, M'bamissa, M'badiala, M'bakourou, Kanibague Makan, Niarga, Adama, Fanta, Sira, M'babougary
