A loan helped to start a mobile money business.

Nimatu's story

Nimatu is a 21-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her grandmother in West Mamprusi district in Ghana. She has a beading business. With her previous Kiva loan, she expanded her beading business and used the profits she earned to support her family's daily needs.

Nimatu is requesting another loan to start a mobile money business. She plans to use the profits she earns to reinvest in her business.

She will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering 2.5 hours per week as a CAMFED Learner Guide, facilitating classes from CAMFED’s ‘My Better World’ program with students at her local secondary school, helping to build their self-esteem and motivating them to remain in school.

This loan is special because:

It provides 0% interest loans to entrepreneurs that give back to their community by mentoring.
