A loan helped a mother-daughter caregiving team providing life-changing services, specializing in Hospice and senior care!

Nakyah's story

When I was 18 years old, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had just graduated high school and heading off to college when I got the news. I also had 2 younger brothers at home. I felt like it was my responsibility to step up and take care of my family, so I did and that is when my passion for providing health care to others started. I've been working in and of different care facilities for about 8 years now and one day I said that I want to do this on my own. So, together with my cancer-free mom, who is also a certified CNA, we started Dorothy's Heart. The family-owned business is named after grandmother who passed away right after I graduated high school and who was always the caregiver of our family. You can definitely say that caregiving is in our blood. My biggest motivations are definitely my children.

Being a mom has definitely driven my passion for caregiving much more deeper and putting other people's needs before my own is what I live to do. My mom has been a caregiver for over 15 years. As a single mom, she always put my brothers' and my needs before her own. There were times when she worked 3 jobs to support us. It has been her dream to own her own business and now I truly believe God has now put us in a position to make that dream come true.

This loan is special because:
