A loan helped to buy more slippers to sell.

Ruth's story

Ruth is a 33-year-old entrepreneur. She lives with her partner and two children, ages 3 and 5 years old. Both of her children are schooling.

Ruth sells slippers and has been managing her sales for nine years. She sells Monday through Saturday and faces no problem with her business. She likes her business because it enables her to provide for her children. Ruth is requesting a loan from BRAC Liberia, a Kiva Lending Partner, to buy more slippers to sell in order to generate greater profits.

Ruth's dream for the future is to expand her business and continue her children's education. She says thanks!

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
