Bendicion De Dios Group's story

The hard work and entrepreneurship that many women demonstrate to have a better life is honorable. This is the case for Silvia, 30-years old, who works hard to improve her and her family's living conditions. She is married, her husband is a blacksmith, and they have children between the ages of seven and thirteen who go to school. To generate an income for their home, she started a tortilla business two years ago. The business is growing and Silvia has been able to offer new products to her clients such as cold beverages and shaved ice. Silvia is applying for her first loan from Kiva to supply her business with more products. She plans to purchase firewood, corn, and beverages.

In the "Friendship Bridge" community bank, "Bendición de Dios" is made up of ten women who focus on offering the best to their children. They have an average of four years of education and are very grateful for the access to a Kiva loan. Without a doubt, these women are able to improve their tortilla, clothing, and beverage businesses. All of the women are happy to receive monthly education through the "Microcrédito Plus" program. They learn about important topics such as the use of social media to publicize their products. Silvia and her partners also recognize their rights, self-esteem, hygiene, and health.
