A loan helped to purchase more red oil, pepper, rice, charcoal and other items to sell.

Annie's story

Meet 55 year-old Annie, she is a widow. She has five children and two of her children are presently attended school while living at home. Annie is a strong business woman who sells red oil, pepper, rice, charcoal and other items. She started her business with her savings and has been managing her sales for 20 years now. Annie uses a car to transport supplies to her business site. She sells throughout the week and spends 8 hours at her business site. Annie requested this loan from Brac Liberia and KIVA Field Partner to purchase more red oil, pepper, rice, charcoal and other items to sell. She likes her business because it gives her profits. She says thanks and gives appreciation to Brac and the Kiva community for their support.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
