A loan helped to buy more charcoal and soft drinks to sell.

Tetee's story

This is 40-year-old Tetee. She lives with her partner and four children; they are schooling.

Tetee attended school up to eighth grade. She is a hardworking business woman who sells bags of charcoal and soft drinks. She learned how to sell from her mother and got her start-up capital from her father. She works Monday through Saturday and uses kehkeh to transport supplies to her business site.

She applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva lending partner, to buy more charcoal and soft drinks to sell in order to generate greater profits. She likes her business because it makes her an independent woman. She wants to build stores and send her children to college in the future. Tetee wishes to say thanks to BRAC and Kiva.

This loan is special because:

It serves low-income individuals in rural Liberia where few alternative funding sources exist.
