A loan helped a member buying fruit and vegetables.

Gnetaga Group's story

The members of the group GNETAGA are essentially married women averaging 36 years of age and three children living in monogamous families in MAMASSONI, a district in Sikasso City (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). The group members are on their fifth collaboration with the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso in order to meet the needs of their customers.  The previous loans have all been settled.

The group members are active in food service and in the buying and selling of fruit and vegetables, as in the case of Ms. AICHATA T..  With her new loan, she plans on buying 5 baskets of fruit and vegetables.  She gets her supplies from farmers and sometimes at the big market in Sikasso City from wholesale merchants.  Accepting cash and sometimes credit from her customer base composed of men and women, she sells at markets and out of her home.

She envisions making an average monthly profit of 17,500 francs CFA.  Part of the profits will be put into savings.  The other part will be invested in her business.  She is counting on having more capital in order to satisfy her customers more and to fix up her sales location.

In this group: Awa, Aichata, Awa, Djeneba
