A loan helped to buy mulberry for her tapa-making business.

Tinivia's story

Tinivia makes a living from making tapas (patterned cloth made from the bark of the mulberry tree) and selling them. She is a single mother of three. Tinivia and her kids live at her sister's house, and with the help of her sister, she manages to join a group of women in the village that makes tapas.

Tinivia buys her mulberry from the market and uses it to run her business. She also prepares soft tapas and sells to some of the women in the group. When her tapas are ready, her sister helps with marketing them to some random customers from local and overseas. With this loan, she is able to buy mulberry and make more tapas.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
