A loan helped artisans have enough minerals for products for 5 museum gift shops.

Diego's story

My name is Diego and I was born in Uruguay and moved to the US where I met my wife Lisa. We are the proud parents of two amazing teens on the spectrum. Since our boys were born we had to look at our life through a different lens, one where wellness and intentionality were very important. We became very involved in holistic products and educating on the importance of sustainable sourcing. We travel back and forth to Uruguay regularly to visit my Mom and our wellness community began to ask us to bring back the beautiful stones of my country. I was proud of the more sustainable practices being used and the incredible beauty of the minerals sourced from the country of my birth. We developed amazing relationships with artisans and mines and learned that much product leaves Uruguay and goes to China and then shipped to the US. This takes work and mineral product out of the hands of the artisans.

It has become our mission to create a more positive direct link by creating an artisan cooperative in Uruguay that can purchase its own product that we can bring to market in the US.
