A loan helped isaac build a sustainable black owned business while bringing more culture to Burlington, VT.

Isaac's story

When I was child, I was sent to Africa to live with my grandparents. In that household I was raised alongside four females. Growing up you could say I was attached to their hips which resulted in being in the kitchen with them all the time. There, I learned to cook many traditional Ghanaian foods. When I moved back to America, I noticed there were very few places for people to get these types of traditional dishes. I aim to make Burlington Vermont one of those places. I believe by offering these various dishes, I will bring more diversity and culture to our communities.
Having lived in Vermont for upwards of a decade I have seen the excellent job Burlington has been doing making the city more vibrant and diverse and it is time for me to add a taste of Ghana, West Africa. I know the opening of our mobile food cart (Bèdidi) will do just that.
