A loan helped a member to buy wholesale flowers.

Virtuosas De Sajcavilla Group's story

Being an entrepreneurial woman and innovating a business to get ahead is admirable. 47-year old Irma is one of these women. Although she has only six years of education, she has been persevering as she seeks alternatives for her family's improvement. She is a single mother of two children (14 and 27 years old), both of whom receive formal education. Twenty-two years ago, Irma established a flower stand in one of the cemeteries in Guatemala City. With the support of her children, she manages to sell flowers. In order to continue offering variety, she applies for a second loan from Kiva to buy flowers in bulk.

The Puente de Amistad Community Bank "Virtuosas de Sajcavilla" is made up of eight Mayan K'iche women from the Department/State of Sacatepéquez. They are innovators who want to get ahead and want to invest in the businesses of selling flowers, carpentry, raising pigs, tortilla making, selling chicken by the pound, shoe stores and casual clothing. These women also participate in Puente de Amistad's "Microcredit Plus" program and benefit from important topics on education, family, budgeting, savings and health services. In these trainings, they gained new knowledge for the proper development of their businesses and good customer service.

These women need the financial support of each of you Kiva lenders.
