A loan helped to buy a variety of cosmetics to meet her customer demands.

Joana's story

Joana is a 28-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and children in Builsa North district in Ghana. She sells cosmetics. With her previous Kiva loan, she expanded her business, and she used the profit she earned to support her family. Joana is now requesting another loan to buy a variety of cosmetics to meet her customer demands. She plans to use the profit she earns to reinvest in her business.

She will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering 2.5 hours per week as a CAMFED Learner Guide, facilitating classes from CAMFED’s ‘My Better World’ program with students at her local secondary school, helping to build their self-esteem and motivating them to remain in school.

This loan is special because:

It helps borrowers withstand negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
