A loan helped my business have the funds to purchase equipment & supplies.

Rodney's story

I am the oldest of five children, and I grew up in the South, observing my mom, dad, and grandfather working with food on the farm and using their hands in the soil. I inherited the spirit of entrepreneurship from my grandfather, who managed his own farm, owned equipment, and created job opportunities for the community. He resided in South Carolina.

After my parents divorced, we relocated to New York City, where we moved in with my aunt and her husband, who was an entrepreneur. He repaired TVs, cooked, and worked for a museum in the city. Despite my mother only having an eighth-grade education, she attended night school to pursue learning, eventually becoming a dietitian and working for the Department of Education in New York City. Education has always held great significance in my family, and combining education with food services to support funding for our community has been a significant endeavor.

I am enthusiastic about enhancing our enrollment and providing more vocational and culinary arts training for the future. Giving back to the community through education and food services is a wonderful opportunity I look forward to.
