Maria Noemy's story

Maria Noemy and her family live in the city of Portoviejo. It was affected by an earthquake on the 16th of April, 2016. The city is rich in the production of vegetables, legumes and tropical fruit for domestic consumption.

Maria Noemy makes special regional breakfasts from home. Bolognese with cheese, fried pork rinds and mixed meals, “tigrillos”, (mashed green plantains scrambled with cream cheese and eggs) and “pericos”, (eggs with cheese, onion and herbs). On request she makes various lunches. She also looks after a farm where they grow lemon crops, cocoa, coconut and other products. They collect them and hand them over to market traders.
