A loan helped four sets of plastic chairs, raw materials and food supplies.

Tilman's story

Tilman R. is a 40 year old man who sells fast food and lunches in his food stand called "Comidas Rápidas los Reyes" [The Kings Fast Food] as is shown in the picture above. He is married and lives in the neighborhood José Antonio Galán in the city of Barranquilla. He has 3 children, ages 11, 15 and 16. He started his business 5 years ago selling pizza and has gradually added lunches, fast food, drinks, ice cream, grilled beef and chicken.

Since he has been associated with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo [Mario Santo Domingo Foundation] for 8 years and he has received 10 loans. His tenth loan is actually a Kiva loan, with which he will buy 4 sets of plastic chairs, raw materials and supplies to make his food products. His relationship with this organization has improved his standard of living and has given him an excellent credit history. His dream and great challenge is to convert his business into a 5 star restaurant, known around the Colombian Carribean. Tilman is a tireless worker and his business is successful in the neighborhood. It has a 28% profitability on sales, a liquidity of 43.3%, a return on investment of 25%, a 21-day turnover on accounts payable, and a 5-day turnover on finished products. He is fundamentally happy with his family and dreams of being able to offer them a great future.
