Mario is a small entrepreneur who comes from humble roots. He lives in a rented property in the western part of the country. Mario is known for being a good father. For many years, he has been selling food and taking advantage of the location of his shop, which is situated along one of the main roads in the city.
Mario remembers that he previously had a small space for his business with only a few tables and chairs and only one employee. Over time and with the support of Kiva and MiCrédito, his business improved. Today, he offers a variety of dishes and employs eight women who cook and serve the customers. His employees are also single mothers and heads of household.
This small entrepreneur also has a few cars and a truck that he rents out to improve his income. Don Mario owns a piece of property that has a house in bad condition. It needs to be renovated so that it can be rented out. For this reason, Mario decided to request a Kiva loan from MiCrédito to buy cement, iron, zinc sheets, sand, gravel, blocks, and quarry stones, as well as tables, chairs, and stoves for his eatery.
His short-term goals are to certify his employees, buy a plot of land for building a diner to rent, and own a restaurant. Mario plans to pursue his goals with the support of Kiva.
