A loan helped to buy agricultural inputs and equipment to expand the production area.

Margarida's story

Margarida is a 56-year-old Mozambican woman. She lives in Moamba, Maputo province. She is a divorced and single mother, who with courage and dedication, faces life's challenges and takes care of her children alone.

Margarida is a hardworking woman who has been working in agriculture for about 20 years. During this period she faced many difficulties due to climate changes such as heavy rains, intense heat, strong winds, cyclones, and others, but despite all these challenges, she was resilient and always paid her Kiva loan on time.

Thanks to her first Kiva loan, Margarida bought seven greenhouses that allowed her to produce good quality vegetables by reducing the effects of climate change on her crops. In order to increase production and productivity, she had another Kiva loan that allowed her to acquire a tractor that positively impacted her business by increasing the volume of horticulture production and expanding the production area.

Margarida now needs to acquire more inputs and agricultural equipment to further increase the production of vegetables, such as tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, green beans, and other vegetables.

In order to increase the production of vegetables in this new agricultural campaign, Margarida asks for her fourth Kiva loan to buy agricultural equipment to increase production.

This loan is special because:

It allows farmers access to new markets and agricultural resources.
