A loan helped to buy materials for ice cream-making.

Josefina's story

Josefina is 56 years old and lives with her husband and two children in their own house. She and her husband make ice cream for a living and have been developing their product for 7 years. The idea came from Josefina's children and they only had one piece of equipment needed for the job - a refrigerator. She launched the business then. With time, she set up popsicle molds and another freezer, and began using a great deal of cones as well.

She now does preparation work during the day until 11 am, and then goes out selling the ice cream at schools in her area. There are people who help her sell and they are paid for their work. The most profitable season is the summertime. Her future plans are to improve her tools and equipment and to produce in greater quantity. This is Josefina's fifth loan with MFP and she is very happy to know that she has financial support. In addition, she is glad to be part of a communal bank because all of its members are responsible and very supportive people. She also is thankful to everyone who will provide the loan she is requesting since it will be very useful in the progress of her business. With the loan Josefina is requesting, she will invest in more primary materials for ice cream-making.
