Cherice's story

My sewing journey began as a little girl hand-making clothes for my Barbies. I would use scraps of fabric, paper towels, newspaper, or whatever else I could find, much to my mom's frustration. While in high I took sewing as an elective and discovered a new passion that set me on a career path in fashion. I entered design school right out of high school and excelled in my coursework. Regretfully, I had to drop out of college before my sophomore year and had to find work to support myself immediately.

During my time out of school, I became a mom and worked many hours to support myself and my daughter. Having her motivated me to return to school and not give up on my dreams. I attended night school part-time for nine years while still working full-time and being a mom. Over those years, I got married and had three more children. I continued to move forward and earned my degree in Fashion Design.

In my creative career, I've self-produced and sold a small collection; I've made custom prom dresses and tailored women's clothing. Today, I enjoy sharing my sewing expertise with others and teaching them how to sew. I want to inspire the next generation of makers to love working with their hands while gaining an appreciation for the process.

I desire to offer complete fashion sewing and design classes for the home sewist and to equip teens with the skills needed to enter fashion design school. I also want to be a positive influence and uplift the image of my community by providing high-quality services and inspiring hope for the future.
