A loan helped us to hire locally, promote and teach sustainability, and support local makers.

Kristin's story

When I was nine years old, my dad saw an ad for a frozen yogurt machine in the local paper. He suggested we buy it and start a business. Though that didn't happen, it planted a seed of entrepreneurship in me. Fast forward 15 years, and I was working as a sales rep. For a children's clothing line and over a decade of working with my customers, I knew I wanted to be on their side of the table one day. Ten years later, the last gift shop in our town closed and I knew it was my time

There was a need in our community for a gift shop. I knew that adding my personal core values of moving towards sustainability, promoting local artisans, and focusing on American-made and socially-good products would make it not just any gift shop but one that would give back and make our local dollars stretch further while promoting others in our community.

My passion is people; it's talking to them, learning how to support them, and teaching them things I am learning. This shop is all of that and more. My vision is for this to be a staple in the community and a centerpiece that focuses on good for the planet and the community.
