A loan helped to buy quality farming inputs such as good certified seeds and fertilizers.

Elizabeth's story

Elizabeth - pictured above - says that although she was born into a poor family, she had no choice. But now she has the choice of being successful, which is the reason why she is crafting a success story.

Elizabeth hails from the Nyeri area of Kenya. This region is the bread basket of Kenya. Maize is a staple crop in this region where smallholder farmers are the main inhabitants. Having grown up in a family where farming was the only way of providing for the family, Elizabeth gained a lot of basic skills that she applies today. She has now positioned herself well in the farming business and has developed a good market for her farm produce, including crops, maize, and bananas.

Elizabeth is requesting a loan to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer, pesticides, and herbicides to improve her crop farming. She plans to use her idle land and plant more crops.

Elizabeth has always been interested in joining Juhudi Kilimo, and she is even more excited knowing that they are in partnership with Kiva. She believes her loan will help increase her profits and improve the lives of her family members.

Elizabeth thanks her lenders in advance because she knows you have her back.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
