A loan helped to buy fish and seafood inventory from rural and indigenous fishermen.

Carlos Cecilio's story

Meet Carlos Cecilio!

Carlos Cecilio lives in the rural town of Rio Pavo, East Panama. He has identified an opportunity to buy fish and seafood from his neighbors in rural and indigenous regions of Darien, to sell in other urban areas of the country. With this endeavor, he supports fishermen in his community and also generates revenue to support his family.

Carlos Cecilio is known for supporting youth in his community and supporting initiatives that support the improvement of his community.

In this photo, Carlos Cecilio is next to some of the tanks where he stores seafood and fish for its distribution later.

Today, he is asking for his first Kiva loan to buy fish and seafood from local fishermen, supporting his neighbors, contributing to food security in the country and generating job opportunities for young people of his town.

Darien region in Panama has been historically excluded from basic financial services. Thank you for supporting Carlos Cecilio and fishermen from Panama.
