A loan helped a member to buy leather and other shoe-making supplies.

Naghma's Group's story

Naghma lives in Kamoki, a small city in Pakistan known for its rice industry. She lives with her family in a two-room brick house in the neighborhood of Hajvery Muhallah.

Naghma is married to M. A., who is a cobbler by profession. He supplies shoes to different factories and shoe-selling shops on order. He has been doing this work for more than 20 years and is an expert with a good number of clients.

Naghma is the mother of seven children: four daughters and three sons. Her two elder sons help their father in his business. Because of financial constraints, these two were unable to get an education. Three of her other five children are able to attend school, and the remaining two children stay at home.

Naghma is a housewife who stays at home. She has applied for a loan from Kiva partner Asasah for her husband’s business. With the loan, her husband will purchase leather, thread, and shoe polish in bulk quantity to fulfill larger orders on time and to earn a good income. Naghma is hopeful that this loan will help her husband to increase his profits by making a larger quantity of shoes to supply to shops and factories. She is a regular borrower from Asasah, and this is her third loan application. With her previous loans, she has paid her installments on time and has attended every meeting.
