Julia's story

Julia T. is from the town of Palilan, Jimenez Mis. Occ. Philippines. She is 60 years old and is single. To make a living, Julia owns and operates a retail seafood store. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes primarily from selling seafood products including fish and shrimp in the local community. Julia has been engaged in her business for over 40 years and earns approximately 2,000 PHP a month for these activities.

In 2004, Julia joined PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Julia has successfully repaid a previous loan of 20,000 PHP from PMPC. This previous loan was used to to purchase new equipment and tools to expand the business. Julia is requesting a new loan of 40,000 PHP which will be used to purchase additional products to sell. This loan will be the 10th loan taken out by Julia from PMPC. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to financially support immediate members of her family.
