A loan helped a minority woman and veteran-owned business hire more workers to better serve our clients.

Jamilla's story

As an only child growing up, partially in Brooklyn, NY, and partially in Nashville, NC, birthdays and special occasions were a huge deal to my mother. She was a single parent that wanted my childhood to be full of positive memories. I can remember that she executed my birthday parties and other special occasions for family and friends with such enthusiasm every time. I lost my dear mother to breast cancer when I was only 15 years old, but I will never forget the joy I felt when we celebrated special occasions with her.

After graduating high school, I joined the United States Army to gain additional resources for college at a later time. The Army taught me tremendous organizational and problem-solving skills. After my military time expired, I received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management. I decided to combine all of my skills and education together to form my event planning company, Eventful Expressions, in 2010.

I initially started planning events for myself and other family and friends as a hobby and a passion for bringing joy to others. I have since expanded my business to planning and executing special occasions for individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations.

Over the years, I have learned that I am creating experiences and bringing visions to life for people that normally do not have time to devote to making these life events memorable. I take pride in knowing that my clients trust me with the responsibility of their memorable events and love the fact that I alleviate the stress I know it takes to put an event together with the spirit of excellence.
