A loan helped a minority woman keep open a clinic fighting the opioid crisis.

Keshia's story

I provide addiction and mental health treatment to communities in Ohio. I have been working as a Nurse Practitioner in this field for over 10yrs. When my children struggled with addiction, introduced in high school, I experienced firsthand the inadequacies in the healthcare system that lead to inconsistent treatment, relapse, overdose, and other disparities.

A passion ignited within me to provide convenient, compassionate care to our clients with extended hours and improved accessibility, including telehealth options. My goal is to give people and their families struggling with addiction and mental illness the Most Hope possible to sustain substance abuse remission and improve their daily functioning with adequate mental health treatment.

I started from scratch and have invested my income, savings, and retirement in helping those in need while still caring for my children (ages 2, 7, 10, 15, and 15). I also have three adult children, ages 22, 23, and 25. My 25yo was recently diagnosed with paranoid Schizophrenia, so this fight for the community to receive the best mental health treatment possible is personal to me. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to give back to the community because I believe we are all interwoven together, and this crisis has affected us all, whether directly or indirectly. We can overcome this opioid and addiction crisis and disparities in mental health treatment one life at a time!
