A loan helped to purchase the ACE One hybrid energy system for cooking, lighting and charging in a way that is safer, cleaner and saves money.

Thabang's story

Thabang is a 54-year-old man who lives with 5 other family members, including 2 children, in a two-bedroom house. Thabang relies on commercial farming but struggles with insufficient income and buying multiple fuels.

He spends the most amount of his energy expenses on LPG, which costs up to LSL 225 per month. He also spends as much as 1 hour per day gathering fuel and fulfilling other energy needs like phone charging.

Thabang bought the ACE 1 cookstove to help him and his family save the money spent every month on fuel and to help them access solar electricity for charging their mobile devices any time for free.

The ACE 1 clean cookstove is biomass- and solar-powered. For more information on the ACE 1 cookstove, please visit www.africancleanenergy.com and Facebook @African Clean Energy.

This loan is special because:

It provides communities with energy saving cookstoves that also reduce pollution.
