Merta Jati Group's story

Ni Putu S. is a 45-year-old woman living in the town of Melaya - Bali. Ni Putu S. is the group leader of a 15-member group loan offered by MUK. While each member of the group receives an individual loan, they all are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults. The official name of this borrowing group is Merta Jati (PK-10357).


Ni Putu S. is married and has 2 children. To make a living, Ni Putu S. owns & operates a business venture in the agriculture sector raising livestock. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes from raising pigs for sale. Ni Putu S. has been engaged in this business for over 5 years and earns approximately 750,000 IDR a month from these activities.


In 2010, Ni Putu S. joined MUK to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Ni Putu S. has successfully repaid a previous loan of 1,300,000 IDR from MUK. This previous loan was used to purchase baby livestock to raise & sell in future. She is now requesting a new loan of 1,300,000 IDR which will be used to purchase baby livestock to raise & sell in future. This will be the 2nd loan taken out by the borrower from MUK. Ni Putu S. plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her business.

Ni Luh A. W. and Ni Kadek B. could not attend the meeting due to attending the temple so they are represented by their husbands.

Ni Wayan S. not attend because she was looking after her brother who was ill in Denpasar with her husband. Her loan is accounted for by the leader of the group.

Ni Luh K. not attend the meeting because she was sick.

Meskipun setiap anggota kelompok menerima pinjaman perorangan, mereka semua bertanggung jawab untuk mengembalikan pinjaman rekan anggota kelompok mereka jika ada yang menunggak atau gagal membayar. Nama resmi kelompok peminjam ini adalah Merta Jati (PK-10357).


Meskipun bukan satu-satunya sarana untuk menghasilkan pendapatan, sumber utama penghasilan bisnis tersebut terutama berasal dari beternak babi untuk dijual. Ni Putu S. sudah menjalankan bisnis ini selama lebih dari 5 tahun. Dari kegiatan-kegiatan ini, Ni Putu S. menghasilkan sekitar 750,000 IDR. Dalam 2010, Ni Putu S. bergabung MUK untuk mendapatkan akses ke layanan keuangan untuk membantu meningkatkan -nya kondisi kehidupan dan kemampuan untuk menjalankan kegiatan bisnis. Ni Putu S. telah berhasil melunasi pinjaman sebelumnya sebesar 1,300,000 IDR dari MUK. Pinjaman sebelumnya ini digunakan untuk membeli bibit ternak untuk dibesarkan & dijual di masa mendatang. Dia (perempuan) sekarang meminta pinjaman baru sebesar 1,300,000 IDR.


Pinjaman ini akan menjadi 2nd pinjaman yang diambil oleh peminjam dari MUK.
