A loan helped to increase his working capital so that he can introduce new products to his newly opened store.

Jean Damascene's story

Jean Damascene is a well known entrepreneur living in Rwanda in the host community. Jean Damascene steadily grew his business with the help of a Kiva loan. With the previous loan, he was able to increase his working capital so that he could introduce new products to his opened store. He expanded his business from two grocery stores to three grocery stores.

Kiva's loan helped him to fully serve both refugees and the host community. He also bought a truck that carries commodities everywhere which earns income and contributes to the business growth. He was able to create two more jobs for the people in his community. He now has 8 employees, including refugees who are able to change their lives.

Jean Damascene wants to increase his business working capital and diversify the commodities in his newly opened store. Since his main clients are refugees and host communities, the business sometimes runs out of products due to a lack of working capital and high demand, especially in this time where he is focusing on wholesale. With the requested loan he will be able to continue growing and creating more opportunities for both refugees and the host community.

This loan is special because:

It offers a full package of support for Rwanda's promising entrepreneurs.
