A loan helped to purchase more feed and hens for resale.

Christine's story

Christine is 43 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is married and has 4 children with 3 of them currently in school. For the past 7 years Christine has been working hard to manage her poultry business, which sells hens.

To help expand her business, Christine has requested a loan of 4,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more feed and hens for resale, and will help Christine to generate greater profits and improve her standard of living by providing enough food for her family.

Christine hopes that in the future she will be able to buy land and build a house of her own.

Christine is a member of BRAC's microfinance program (MF). The program primarily serves small group members like Christine who do not have collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown and qualify for microloans.

This loan is special because:

It provides financial services in some of the poorest parts of Uganda.
