A loan helped to invest in a bulk purchase of cotton and nylon thread and to hire additional assistants.

Tamara's story

Tamara is an artisan from Nicaragua who specializes in ceramic, leather, and natural fiber home decor. She would like to invest in a bulk purchase of cotton and nylon thread and to hire additional assistants. Tamara has been selling through NOVICA since 2014. This is her story:

"Our work combines natural materials such as clay, wood, marble, and even pine needles in unique ways. Pine needle crafts made in one village and ceramic specialties from another region are combined in unique designs that provide jobs in both areas. I plan to continue working very hard to open new horizons for our artisans so they can live better.

"With this microcredit, I will invest in the wholesale purchase of threads since they have been very scarce. I will also use it to pay my assistants who help with production. We are getting ready for the Christmas season and I hope we will have a lot of sales. Thanks for your support."
